Eleven dead in Hanau - rasist political violence shakes Germany
Updated: May 17, 2020
Strong emotions and calls for more dialogue to understand and respect each other better. Hopefully can that stop future rasist and political violence. Here is a video from the streets of Hanau in Germany a couple of weeks after the deadly attack in April 2020. A rasist right-wing extremist murdered young people and then took his own life.
The 2019 statistics in Germany show 80 politically motivated violent crimes. 49 six more cases than in 2018, had a right-wing extremist background. The number of left-wing extremist violent crimes had fallen by four to 22. Nine cases of violence could not be attributed to the right, according to Welt. Nothing indicates that political violence in Germany will be reduced by 2020.
